Resumen

Dentro de la oftalmología, el conocimiento que tenemos sobre la enfermedad de la miopía se ha ideo incrementando en gran medida en las últimas cuatro a 5 décadas. Se están pudiendo responder diferentes preguntas de investigación y a la vez se están logrando terapéuticas que tienden a prevenir o enlentecer la progresión de la miopía. La miopía está aumentando en el mundo por diversos factores, sobre todo aquellos relacionados con estilo de vida y medio ambiente, siendo estos factores de riesgo modificables. Tener más miopía a lo largo de la vida significa también tener más riesgo de perder la visión por patologías secundarias. Por eso, cada dipotría cuenta y en este trabajo de revisión, se hará un breve repaso a las evidencias y experiencias desarrolladas en la práctica asistencial, den Mendoza, Argentina.
