Objective: To present a case report of a patient with bilateral optic neuritis, seropositive for SARS-CoV2.
Case report: A 36-year-old male patient who suffered from COVID-19 presented frontal lobe headache accompanied by pain with eye movements and blurring of vision (first in his left eye and then in his right eye), following the first dose of the AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccine against COVID-19, 22 days prior to the symptom onset.
Initially, the visual acuity test result was 8/10 in both eyes without any correction and showed no improvement whatsoever with the pinhole occluder. The fundus examination showed bilateral papillitis. The optical coherence tomography showed findings for bilateral optic disc elevation. Therefore, the patient was treated with endovenous corticosteroids, having a good evolution.
Conclusion: Bilateral optic neuritis can be related to the disease produced by the SARS-CoV2 virus, as was presented in this case.
