Retinopathy of premautiry in Rio Grande, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina

Objective: To evaluate the incidence of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) and their therapeutical management in a public hospital in Río Grande (Tierra del Fuego), Argentina.
Methods: An epidemiological retrospective unicentric study was performed, to evaluate cases of ROP in the Hospital Regional de Rio Grande (HRRG) between August 2021 and September 2022. The evaluated parameters were births, gestational ages, weight at births, number of premature born, and cases of ROP, analyzing the information in a descriptive way.
Results: A total of 515 births were registered, 39 of them were premature (7.5%) and ROP was detected in 3 cases (7.7%), with 28, 31 y 35 weeks of gestation and 830, 1445 and, 1875 gs weight at birth respectively. Just one case required surgical laser treatment and was positively resolved.
Conclusion: The incidence of ROP in HRRG, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina was 7.7%.
