Abstract

The optic nerve arterial macroaneurysm is a very rare pathology, with occasional spontaneous and benign resolution, unless there are complications, such as vitreous hemorrhages. They are usually detected in routine fundus examinations and their diagnosis is usually not so simple, representing a challenge for the ophthalmologist. The aim of our work is to highlight the role of optical coherence angiography in the diagnosis of arterial macroaneurysm of the optic nerve, based on a case report, a method that we also find of great value in its follow-up. The case presented was a finding in a 69-year-old hypertensive man, who so far had no complications and is being followed up with biannual angio-OCT.
